Whew! What can I say about the #americanwritersfes Whew! What can I say about the #americanwritersfestival? It was fabulous. A celebration. Uplifting. And FUN! The weekend kicked off with dinner at this dee-licious steakhouse. But the best part wasn’t the food but the company! The steak came in second to @dahliarose1029 and @pennyreidauthor! I had an absolute ball this past weekend in Chicago for the American Writers Festival. A huge shout out to the staff and volunteers. It was so organized and well run. And they had coffee and pastries! 😆 I was on the Classic Retellings panel with the legendary @jfrostauthor, who is just lovely in person! Of course, I had to get my copy of her newest release A CURSE OF BEASTS AND MAGIC—a Beauty and the Beast retelling where Beauty is the Beast😱😍—and get it signed! The hilarious @sarajbenincasa moderated the panel and this fellow Jersey girl had me snorting my azz off! You know I’m snatching up ABRAHAM F*CKING LINCOLN when it comes out! The audience was fantastic and so welcoming and engaging. It was just a GOOD TIME! And yes, I was showing THIGH! 😆 And last but certainly NOT least… My bestie @dahliarose1029. She refused to let me go by myself, so Dahlia flew in and met ne in Chicago. I can’t even express how much I adore this woman. She had me laughing, not taking myself too seriously. She encouraged me. Nursed me back to health with her Bajan Vicks. 😂 She is the epitome of selfless and I love you, Dahliaaaaa! Right now she’s telling me to not make this weird. 😂😂 So yeah, this is getting long. LOL! Just know, this weekend was THE BEST!

When I say I had A TIME at #BRBF… Well, I did. 😆 I When I say I had A TIME at #BRBF… Well, I did. 😆 It was beautiful, amazing and POWERFUL! To see so many Black authors and readers in one space and winning? Yep. Powerful. I met the most amazing readers, had hilarious and uplifting conversations. Got to hug familiar faces that I haven’t seen in a while and those I’ve only seen online. I did an awesooome panel with @ellekayson96 and @author_asia_monet that was moderated by @_britunfiltered. With her gorgeous self. 😆 Spending that hour with these gifted, wonderful ladies in a room full of equally wonderful readers was a highlight of the conference for me! A HUGE thank you to @blackromancebookfestival organizers, staff and volunteers! Y’all were on it! My experience there started with kindness and set the tone for the entire weekend. Congratulations to you!! And a big shout out to my fabulous publisher @brambleromance for sending ARCs of EMBER and to @wanderlustreads2021 for providing my books and putting them in the hands of so many readers! ❤️❤️ Okay, I can go on and on. 😂 So if you get the chance to attend #BRBF do iiiit! It’s an experience you don’t want to pass up!
